Commitment
He who tries hopes for luck. He who decides to succeed succeeds. He who decides to win wins. This is almost always true. Your total commitment and total effort will come into direct competition with opposing total commitment (so that the deciding factor actually becomes something intrinsic ) so infrequently that it is almost not worth discussing. Perhaps total commitment comes in competition with total commitment in high-level sporting events, such as the Olympic Games. Even there, not everyone in the starting blocks of the finals to the hundred-yard dash has decided to win. Even there, the people who fail to win can probably point to something they didn’t do—some effort unexpended, either in training or in the execution of the race itself.
There is a saying in football: “Bring it all to the field; don’t leave any in the locker room.” Bringing it all to the field is so rare in real life that if you actually decided to do it, if you don’t decide to try, if you decide to do what is necessary to succeed, you will.
